Meggyleves is a slightly sweet soup made with sour cream, sugar, and whole fresh sour cherries, including the pits. Sour cherry trees are numerous in Hungary. As a kid, I couldn't decide whether I liked or hated it. I liked the idea of it better than the real thing. Actually, if you imagine that you are someone else somewhere nicer than you are, while you eat it, that makes it taste alright. Basically, you have to disassociate.
